Quick Tip: 5 Words Or Less
When the director yells cut and they ask you how it was (no one does this anymore) or if there is an issue you need to let them know about they were not aware of, here’s one simple rule - say it in five words or less.
The team is likely happy with the shot and wants to move on and the last thing they need is you saying “well it was good until the point where he picks up the sword and I overcorrected at that point and shot off the set but just a little but and maybe it wasn’t so bad but I’m not really sure and we probably should go again.”
Instead say “I saw off the set”. Maybe break that rule and say “I need another, I saw off set.” Either way, make it succinct, direct, quick and efficient. Everyone will appreciate it (well you did see off set so there’s that) and respect you for being someone who gets to the point.
